I've decided this year to leave all the secular things dealing with Easter to those outside my little family. I will not be indulging my children with thoughts of eggs and bunnies. We'll get enough of that from extended family and school. No, as for me and my house, thoughts this week will focus on the Saviour. Yesterday was Palm Sunday. We read the story of Jesus' Triumphal Entry into Jerusalem. We looked up the meaning of "Hosanna". We read a story of a miracle that happened on Palm Sunday for a family who put their faith in Christ.
Today we read how Jesus cleansed the temple after finding money changers there transacting business. He reprimanded them that "My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves" We asked ourselves if He were to come into our home, would he have need to cleanse it to? This reminded me of a talk given in Conference yesterday. We we asked to picture in our minds our homes. Beginning at the front door, what do we see when we open it? Are there appropriate books, Cd's and DVD's in our home? Would anything be an embarrassment to us if the Saviour were to peruse our shelves? It was also asked if we had a place where we performed our scripture study. The Lord has commanded us to establish a house of order. I know there are some changes I need to make in my house to make it a house of the Lord. I don't think it's a "den of thieves", but it needs some improvement to make it as the Lord has asked.
As for tomorrow? Stay tuned.
We are doing the SAME thing in our family. Thanks to your wonderful idea and sugardoodle.net. Thanks Debbie! Hope all goes well with your EASTER week!
ReplyDeleteThat is a great idea! Last night we had a family night on Easter and they really didn't get the real meaning, which is way more important then candy and eggs.
ReplyDeleteThat's fantastic! And so needed. I'm excited to see everything you are doing.
