Conference

This is the first conference I remember Andrew being home and awake enough to listen to, Aside from the October Saturday morning conference 1997 in which we we in the choir, and therefore awake and attentive.
My beloved made it through the morning session with flying colors, but relented to taking a nap with Morgan during the afternoon session.  I actively participated and was amazed at how fast two hours flew by.  I was especially touched by Elder Richard G. Scott's message on temples.  How we should schedule regular visits and let nothing get in the way of our attending.  I think how easy it is to justify why I can not attend more often that I'd like.   But I realize I must sacrifice in order to obtain the blessings awaiting therein. I haven't worn a watch in years.  Elder Scott has asked us to remove our watches while in session so we are not distracted by the worldly measure of time.  What a great way to invite inspiration and revelation to our minds. Also he spoke how we should think on the name of those whom we are officiating for.  This too will bring us closer to the spirit and help us to learn.  We also should rotate our temple work, not just be stuck in performing a certain ordinance each time we visit the temple.  Just as changing where we sit in the chapel each week can give a new perspective, so can performing different ordinances.

Russel M. Nelson spoke of prayer.  The Lord Jesus instructed us how to pray when he taught "the Lord's Prayer".  Pray always in Jesus' name, pray for the companionship of the Holy Ghost. He spoke how the song of the righteous is a prayer unto the Lord, and fasting also is a way to add to our prayers.  We need to use proper, formal words when we speak to the Lord; Thee, Thou and Thine show reverence and love to our Heavenly Father.  We should not have a casual relationship with Him, but we should not cease to pray in our hearts.  Oh how glorious this world would be if we all had a continuous prayer in our hearts.

My husband is on his way to the General Priesthood Session.  I'm so excited for him.  He hasn't attended in well nigh 10 years or so.  I'm so glad he's taking the opportunity to listen to his priesthood leaders.  I hope he will return home to us inspired, edified, and glad that he went.

  1. I too love Conference weekend! It never ceases to amaze me (and I thought it would after so many years) how all of the talks are so pertinant to what's going on in the current times.

So glad your hubby got to watch as well.
