Tonight we read the story of the Last Supper. While we did not prepare the Feast of the Passover I did prepare food which Jesus would have had for dinner on other occasions.
We had salad dressed with oil and vinegar
Three different types of olives
Pita (unleavened) bread
Hummus
Berries
Grapes
Lamb marinated with garlic and olive oil
White grape juice (wine)
I forgot to boil eggs for hard boiled eggs and I forgot to pick up honeycomb, but we did just fine without it.
We set up a big quilt on the living room floor and brought the food over. We used real plates and glassess. It was fun helping each other dish up and "break bread" together. We had a really good time. It was like an indoor picnic, only better.
Later on for dessert we made an "edible tomb".
On http://www.sugardoodle.net/
the instructions have you make them with hostess snowballs and vanilla wafers
I couldn't find snowballs, so I used a honeydew melon (healthier) cut in half and cut the rind away. This was the tomb. I then cut a orange in half and cut a big chunky slice to make the stone which had been rolled away. We talked about how on the morning of the third day Mary Magdalene found the tomb empty. We also talked about how everyone on the earth who has ever lived will be resurrected too.
I am loving the feeling that is in my home. I want it to feel like this always.
What a great idea!
