The Viewing

Opening of great door heavy
Sounds of weeping fill my ears.
Around the corner into dimly lit hall.
Music now and Grandma's voice
drift within the room.

I stand entranced watching pictures pass
And remembering those days.
Tears flow freely down my cheeks.
I can't look at Grandma yet.

Practicing songs to be sung tomorrow
I return to the viewing hall
Hello Grandma, goodbye.
No, not goodbye,
I'll see you when your young and beautiful.

Friends and family come to meet.
Your roses pink and red are beautiful.
Smiling faces and warm embraces
ply the heart with warmth and peace.

The little children drew round you.
Abby stroked your hand.
Morgan said that you were broken.
But we know that we can see you once again
in a heavenly land.

Goodbye for now Grandma Davis. I love you.
Your Debbie.
