Retro Day. Kelsey was 1950's. Aidan was 1970's.
A little story about the yellow dress. Way back in 1993, I think, (might have been 92), this dress was featured in my German class video.
Every year in German we had an assignment to make a 5-10 minute video (spoken in German of course) presentation. This was a glorious time of year when class consisted of viewing one another's videos and then voting on them. None of the ones I made were ever nominated for an award, but, editing was a nightmare I had fun in the process.
The video in which this lovely yellow dress is featured consisted of me and about 5 other girls from class. Our story line?
One of the girls calls up a boy and asks him to go out on a date. She is flat out refused because she is not stylish enough. The solution? Go shopping at the DI (DI= Deseret Industries- a donation based thrift store).
Obviously we didn't want to spend money (even $15 at DI), so we all poked around in our parents closets for some groovy clothes. This particular dress and a hideous orange one were my contributions to the "wardrobe".
It was great fun driving down to DI where we proceeded to whip out my father's HUGE fit on your shoulder, camcorder and film us looking for "stylish" clothes at the DI. We had to sneak our clothes in so we could film them on the rack and then sneak them back out. Oh man.
In the end, the girl who was refused a date was able to get even. As she walked down the street in her u-g-l-y stylish new clothes the guy she wanted to go on a date with came driving by. He saw her, and was so enraptured by her beauty, and being quite distracted, he "wrecked" his car. (come on, we had a budget of $0.00)
(Yeah, wonder why THAT didn't win any awards)
Maybe I can scrounge the video up somewhere, convert it to DVD then post it here on my blog. Yeah right. :)
