Primary Appreciation Dinner

On Thursday (yes, the SAME day Morgan went to the ER) I hosted an appreciation dinner for our primary workers. Primary is an organization in the LDS church which teaches children 18 months to 12 years of age the gospel of Jesus Christ. The presidency of the Primary really wanted to thank all of our teachers and those who help in Scouting by making them a nice dinner. All primary workers are unpaid. They willingly volunteer their time, talents and energy to serve in the primary. It's not an easy job at times, what with wrangling little ones and trying to teach them about reverence and all, but we are grateful for all they do.
I'm kind of a decorating nerd. I love to set tables.
I served Swedish Meatballs and rice, steamed petite green beans and mixed salad.
Obviously I did an autumnal theme seeing as it's November.
Not to worry all my LDS friends, those are bottles of Martinellie's Sparkling Cider you see in the pictures *grin* I thought it was apropos, being cider season and all.
Sandra, our president made these "Find out which Mythological Creature you are" quizzes.
Here are some of our teachers filling out the questionnaires.

Here I am with the answer key.
Anniche our second counselor made this fabulous pastry for dessert. She is from Norway and it is such a treat. It is filled with a pudding layer and drizzled with icing. Yumm-O.

All in all it was a good night. I also gave each worker a loaf of bread as a thank you gift with a poem on it which said:

For being there when you were "kneaded", for "rising" to the occasion, large or small. For never "loafing" on the job, for helping others to "heel" with TLC. No matter how you "slice" it, you do a terrific job serving in our Primary.

Thank you for all your hard work and dedication.

Love,

ThePrimary Presidency

  2. I won't take credit for the poem. I found it on SugarDoodle, but I do like to write poetry. All will be well with me once we get through Monday :)
