My friend, One Cluttered Brain has invited me to her blog party. She paired me up with Marilyn at a lot of loves to hold an interview. I have enjoyed getting to know a little bit about her and am excited to have more blogging buddies. Thanks Marilyn for your honest answers and thanks One Cluttered Brain for your brilliant blog party idea!
1. Why do you blog? And/or what do you like about blogging?
I started to blog because I was a bit bored being a mom home on maternity leave. My social network used to comprise of people at work. Since I wasn't working (or rather I wasn't going into an office every day) I felt lonely and I needed something to keep my own mind occupied. I love my kids but I wanted something to do that didn't revolve around them and was for myself. As it turns out many of my blog posts are about them! I guess once you're a mom, your kids are always on your mind.
2. What's your favorite blog post(s)? Is there a reason it's your favorite? (include the link please)
Although most of my blog posts tend to be about my kids I do try to write about myself as well. I have two favorite posts - one about me and laser-hair removal and one about the trials of being a mom on the outskirts at my kid's school.
Adventures in Hair Removal (a little risque)
Cults and Dogs and Bullys, Oh My!
3. What's your favorite season and why?
I love the Fall. I love the crisp Autumn air and the leaves falling from the trees. I love that the weather isn't too hot and you can still go outside with a sweater on. I love that Christmas is around the corner but not yet upon us (since anticipation is the best part).
4. What's your favorite color?
I love blue. The blue sky and the blue ocean and the blue of my children's eyes.
5. Besides your family, pets, or religion what is your most favorite thing in this world?
I love to snuggle into a cozy bed on a gray day, drink some hot tea and read a good book. I haven't done that for over three years since the birth of my first kid...but I have hope that I'll be able to do it again one day!
6. What was the last book you read? (and how was it/did you learn something from it?)
I tend to read a variety of books at one time. Right now I'm reading a historical romance titled "The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society", as well as a historical fiction about the founding of the Knights Templar titled "Standard of Honor". Last night I completed one of the Sookie Stackhouse Novels titled "Dead as a Doornail". The Sookie books are just in good fun and I definitely did not learn anything from reading it. They are just light fiction. The book about the founding of the Knights Templar is very heavily based on fact so I'm learning lots about that secret society.
7. Have you ever a met a famous person? Who was it?
I used to work for a small float plane company here in Vancouver, BC. Quite a few famous people flew with us and some were nicer than others. It was always surprising to find out who would just stand around and chat to us and though we were regular folk. The nicest famous person I met at that job was Robert Plant from Led Zeppelin. He talked to us for over half an hour about all sorts of things. He was a really enjoyable guy to talk to.
8. If you knew you could try anything and not fail, what dream would you attempt?
That's a difficult question. If I was guaranteed to not fail the sky is kind of the limit. I'm torn between saying that I would like to write a novel that would not only get published but be successful or solve some horrific disease like cancer. I think I'd probably go with curing cancer. It's just such a terrible disease and it has affected so many people that I know. How I would love to be the one to have come up with some cure for it.
9. If you could have a super power what would it be, and why?
I've always wanted to be able to teleport. How awesome it would be to blink your eyes or wiggle your nose and *poof* be somewhere else. It would be even better to be able to teleport someone along with me. That way my husband and I could have dinner at a nice place in New York City, watch a show and still be home in Vancouver the same night. Fantastic.
10. What would your dream house be like?
I kind of love our house right now. It's plenty big enough for all of us plus some overnight guests. We have a cottage in the back that we use as office/gym/guest room. The backyard is private and backs onto a slough (tidal creek). Although our backyard is totally private we are in town and two minutes from the ocean, surrounded by farms where I can buy farm fresh veggies and I can see the beautiful Rocky Mountains along the skyline. It can't get much better...except for maybe a garage. Yeah I'll take this house with a garage and that'd be my dream house.
Cure for cancer- that'd be A-W-E-S-O-M-E!!!!,
Teleportation- super handy if someone was going to shoot you.
Cozy beds- sounds heavenly, (especially with Costco 600 thread count sheets), and
Fall- I'm all over that one, LOVE this time of year.
Thanks again Marilyn, you definitely get two thumbs up!
THanks so much for playing along. Great interview By the way...:))
