Happy Birthday Aidan

To my dear sweet Aidan on her 7th birthday:

I was nine months pregnant with you. I was chorister in Sacrament Meeting. I remember walking over to church with Kesley and thinking "I might not have to lead the music next week"

After church Kelsey and I (Daddy was studying for finals) went up to Grammy and Grandpa house for dinner. Kelsey played and played with cousin T, and at about 8:30 pm I finally said "Kelsey we need to go home now, it's getting late" Well, Kesley didn't want to go, but somehow I got her in the car and drove home. She fell asleep in the car, so I carried her inside. Well, she was kinda in-and-out- of sleep and was crying. I put her in her jammies and then laid down by her in her bed. She was settled about 5 minutes when my water broke (9:35 pm). I jumped out of bed so I wouldn't get any on it, and that just set Kesley off crying again.

I ran to the bathroom and hollered down the hallway to Dad that my water broke and we needed to call Nana to come and get Kelsey. Poor Kelsey. she was so tired. Nana and Andrea came and got Kelsey and helped me to the car. Dad hadn't packed anything for the hospital, so I had to wait for him :( My contractions were getting stronger and longer and I wanted my epidural. We got to the hospital about 10:30 pm as I was changing into my lovely hospital gown I got the mother of all contractions. It absolutely paralyzed me. I just stared at the floor and tried to breathe. I can still see the exact pattern of the tile in the hospital bathroom.

After the contraction passed and I could walk, the nurse came in and asked me when I'd like an epidural. "Yesterday" was my reply, and she laughed and said she'd get the doctor right on it. (10:40 pm) Then Dad slept and I tried to. They checked me every 2 hours to check my progression. At 7:30 am I was dilated to a 10. They had me wait till 8:15 to push. At 9:13 you were completely out. You weighed 6 lbs and 1 oz. and were 19 inched long. You were the best birth EVER! I felt like I could run a marathon after you were born. You cried good and strong. The nurse wrapped you in a blanket and put a little hat on your head. You were so cute and your head wasn't even squished or pointed. You were absolutely beautiful.

Happy birthday to my sweet Aidie Bug. I can't believe it's been seven years. You have grown so much. You can do so much. I love you and am so proud of all the good things you do. Thank you for being my helper and being quick to obey. I appreciate your funny giggle and how you make Morgan laugh. I am so happy you remember to say a prayer when you need help or when you're scared. I love you Aidan Emmaline. I hope you have a happy, happy day.

Love,

Mom
